“Feminine beauty in full bloom.” – Rosa Brazil.
Q&A with Rosa Brazil Founder, Clara Turner.
Rosa Brazil is an elegant line of lingerie inspired by the fashion of my native Brazil. Our culture is a very sensual one where women celebrate their beauty. Our styles reflect this and are designed for sophisticated women who believe in feeling beautiful and confident with their bodies by adorning themselves in lace and jewelry. What a woman wears underneath is the most important part of her wardrobe for herself.
The central design elements of my lingerie are sophistication and comfort. A woman is most beautiful when she expresses her inner beauty, the flower within. Rosa Brazil lingerie is designed to complement a woman, not to take attention away from who she is inside. You can see this philosophy expressed in our logo: “Feminine beauty in full bloom.” A sophisticated woman has this confidence and my line is one more accessory for her that is also comfortable enough to wear all day.
Background/Inspiration
I grew up watching my mother, Rosa (also the Portuguese name of the most beautiful flower “Rose”), design amazing dresses to accentuate the inner beauty of her clients. After moving to the United States to study business I realized that her philosophy combined with the sensuality of Brazilian fashion had potential with American women looking for new ways to express their confidence. The challenge, however, was packaging the lingerie in a way familiar to American women.
My husband helped me to start this venture by staying with me on Saturdays in an open market where we sold other lingerie lines we brought from Brazil. It was an informative, and with him entertaining, experience. We found that American women, particularly those well-traveled, were very excited about the products. When we explained that Brazilian bras are sized only small, medium, large, and extra-large, however, too many could not comprehend the fit. Rosa Brazil is therefore one of the few Brazilian lingerie lines I know of that is designed in American sizes to provide American women with something different but not wholly unfamiliar.
The Products
“Rosa Brazil is therefore one of the few Brazilian lingerie lines I know of that is designed in American sizes”
All Rosa Brazil bras and panties are handmade in southeast Brazil. This is because we want to maintain ties to the heart of Brazilian fashion so that our line will evolve alongside the industry there in order for us to continue providing our customers with authentic pieces of Brazilian culture. Everyone who sees the quality of our products will take immediate notice of the attention given to materials and every detail, from ornate flowers of fabric to jewelry woven into the pieces. You are not only buying a bra, you are buying an accessory.
“I love how the shape accentuates the curves of a woman’s shoulders. Shaped to complement! That is Rosa Brazil.”
As an example, one of my favorite pieces is one in which we have the back of the bra connected in the center by jewelry. To me this embodies the elegance and sophistication that I want to provide to women wearing Rosa Brazil. Beyond the obvious comparison to necklaces, I love how the shape accentuates the curves of a woman’s shoulders. Shaped to complement! That is Rosa Brazil.
The Future
We are very excited to be introducing Rosa Brazil to American women and making Brazilian fashion a little more accessible to them. We believe retailers that carry our line will see great appreciation from their customers. Rosa Brazil is something that all will enjoy, from women who shop at boutique stores for unique items to those wanting pieces to complement their artistic boudoir photos.
Of course, we want to share Rosa Brazil with women around the world! While introducing our products to American women, we plan to provide them to others in sizes familiar to them. If you are ready to bring Rosa Brazil to your customers, please reach out to me and I will be happy to discuss ways we can supply a product designed with them in mind.
